Dog Training Classes
Has your furry puppy grown into a furry fury? Does your adolescent canine need an attitude adjustment? Or would you and your adult canine counterpart enjoy an opportunity to freshen up your knowledge and strengthen your communication? The exceptional trainers of Southeastern Guide Dogs are here to help! You and your pooch will work in a group setting to create a harmonious and balanced relationship.
Classes offered:
Puppy Kindergarten
Designed for puppies between 4 and 6 months of age. The focus is on socialization and making training fun. The course also addresses common issues such as housebreaking, teething, crate training and puppy manners.
Basic Obedience
Designed for dogs of any age. It covers basic commands such as sit, down, stay, come, and loose leash walking. The goal is to learn to work with your dog in distracting environments, as well as deal with any problem behaviors.
Intermediate Obedience
This course is a follow-up to Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience. The skills covered include focused attention, heel, and testing known commands during heavy distractions.
Cool Tricks for Cool Dogs
This fun class emphasizes creativity. Tricks included shaking paws, target touches, playing dead, and rolling over. This class will expand your dog’s vocabulary and provide some “cool” challenges.
Canine Good Citizen
This class focuses on the skills needed to pass the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Emphasis is on being able to control the dog through verbal commands and hand signals, with less reliance on the leash. The CGC test will be given at the conclusion of the course.

*Required Vaccinations: Dogs must be current on Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis (Adenovirus Type 2) and Rabies vaccination. Puppies should have the last vaccination at or after 16 weeks old with a booster vaccine given 2-4 weeks prior to the 16-week booster.
*Highly Recommended Vaccinations: Kennel Cough (Bordetella/Parainfluenza) vaccination (preferably intranasal rather than injectable)
Please note: Dogs or puppies who have been in a kennel or shelter environment two weeks prior to class will not be admitted.
