Volunteer in Palmetto

Our volunteers have something to smile about.

man-wirh-pupsAt Southeastern Guide Dogs, we’re thankful for an army of volunteers who make it possible for us to better serve our students and graduates. With their help, we can continue offering a lifeline of freedom and independence that otherwise wouldn’t be possible for our students — at no charge.

Our Volunteers assist staff all over the organization, from working with the puppies and dogs in our Puppy and Training Kennels to assisting customers in the Gift Shop and helping out our administrative staff in a wide variety of positions. Our volunteers are as different as can be in personalities, backgrounds, and talents, yet they all have something in common: generous hearts. If you’d like to join our family, we have plenty to do — and plenty of puppies to go around!

We have perfected a tiered-approach to make sure that all of our volunteers become familiar with our facility and staff, receive world-class training, and have the opportunity to explore many different volunteer roles within the organization. Some of the opportunities available to volunteers in our program include:

Puppy Kennel & Training Kennel Helper
Front Desk/Administrative Assistant
Dog Walker
Gift Shop Attendant
Gardening/Landscaping Helper
Public Appearances/Educational Speaker
Weekend Getaway Host
Transportation Provider
and so much more!

We have many projects available for youth to create items for our puppies! You can get Bright Futures hours for the project, and even sign up for Puppy Hugging to meet the puppies you’re helping with your project! Please email Jacqui Garvey or call 941.845.1868 to learn more about these opportunities!
  • High School Students may obtain their Bright Future hours through dog walking, creating items for our puppies, and/or fundraising.
Are you a group of adults looking for an opportunity to volunteer together?
We can use your help!

If your group doesn’t mind a little dust and dirt and are willing to do some heavy lifting and organizing, we have opportunities for them to help both indoors and outside! For more information and project dates please contact Lauren Kobernick at lauren.kobernick@guidedogs.org
