Love us? Here’s How to Lend a Paw
We appreciate our community of friends, volunteers, and supporters. If you’d like to share our mission with others, here’s a summary of the “why,” “what,” and “how,” behind our mission.
Why are we here? We’re here because we care about our visually impaired students, veterans living with PTSD, and our alumni teams. When people lose vision, it’s easy to lose hope. When veterans lose hope, it’s easy to give up. It’s easy to let the darkness define life instead of living life to its fullest. That’s why we provide our dogs to the people who need them at no cost. And that’s why we follow up with our teams for life.
What is our mission? Our mission is to transform lives by creating and nurturing extraordinary partnerships between people and dogs.
How do we do what we do? Employing the latest in canine development and behavior research, we train dogs of the highest pedigree—Labradors, golden retrievers, and goldadors—for people who are blind and for veterans. All of Southeastern Guide Dogs’ services—which include selective breeding and expert dog training; comprehensive on-campus student instruction; and lifetime graduate follow-up—are provided at no cost to the recipients. Donations sustain our mission and give freedom and hope to people who need it most. Southeastern Guide Dogs has the distinction of being dually accredited by the two premier, global accreditation bodies: the International Guide Dog Federation and Assistance Dogs International.
