Meet Leonard and emotional support dog Kady

Leonard sits on the ground with Kady leaning against him. Leonard is wearing a blue sweatshirt and sweatpants. Kady is a black Lab with a pink collar.
I was in the Army for about two years. I went to Vietnam from ‘66 to ‘67 and I was stationed on an island. There was a small bridge connecting us to the mainland; it had very easy access, probably a few hundred feet at most. While I was there we unloaded ships and supplies, and we had a district munitions point there. Where I was stationed, we didn’t carry weapons. Our guns were kept within the armory which was just a large tent. Only the military police and an Air Force contingency carried weapons. A lot of us didn’t feel safe. It was stressful; it was a war zone.
I’ve had blood pressure problems. I think my blood pressure is down some since I got Kady. Coincidentally my wife does too. Since we’ve been devoting time to doing things with Kady, I think both of us have noticed a drop in our blood pressure.
Wherever we go, we take Kady with us. If she can’t go into a place, that’s not a place that we go to. If we go to a restaurant, we sit outside so she is with us. She’s so good; we just put her down in an area that is safe for her. She’s attentive and she minds and does everything really well.
