160 Eyes, 80 Dogs, 1 Caring Veterinary Ophthalmologist
Dr. Tom Miller came to our campus recently to examine the eyes of 80 of our active and retired breeders. Our breeders get eye exams each year since many eye conditions can develop as dogs age. Normally, we are able to participate in the annual ACVO National Service Dog Eye Exam Event in May which provides free eye exams to assistance animals, including our breeders.
However, this event was canceled this year due to COVID-19.Dr. Miller generously offered his time on a Saturday to come and see the majority of our breeders. These annual eye exams help us make better, well-informed breeding decisions which in turn helps us produce the best possible working dogs. We greatly appreciate Dr. Miller for seeing so many dogs in one day and for helping us further our mission.
Dr. Miller is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists. He is one of 3-4 ophthalmologists that come to campus and provides eye exams for our puppies and dogs in training throughout the year. This was the first time we’ve held this event for our breeders, and we are grateful that Dr. Miller agreed to perform these very important exams for us.
