Going Virtual: Important Walkathon Announcement
Walkathons Going Virtual—And We Still Need You!
We go to great lengths to keep our puppies safe and healthy, and we want to do the same for you. That’s why we’ve made some difficult decisions about our Walkathons, which are Southeastern Guide Dogs largest fundraisers of the year.
With the recent events surrounding the coronavirus, we’ve decided not to host large gatherings, including our Walkathons. But we’re not canceling completely!
We’re calling it a location change. We’re going virtual, and we need your help now more than ever.
For every Walkathon scheduled during the next few months, join us for a virtual experience! On the day of the Walkathon that you registered for, at 10 a.m., we still want you to join us for a walk.
Whether you are walking on a treadmill, walking in your neighborhood, or even in your living room, put on your walking shoes and walk your paws for the cause.
And make sure you bring your four-legged friend!
Let’s do it together—online! Take a photo or video, tag us on social media, and share, so everyone can join the fun! Fundraising incentive items will still be provided—keep an eye on your email for more information.
We still need your fundraising support now more than ever! Right now, 253 applicants are hoping for one of our dogs. And your Walkathon support provides our dogs to the people who need them, at no cost.
Our Walkathon goal is $1.3 million, and we’re just shy of raising $700,000 – so keep fundraising, keep sharing your page on social media, and keep your tennis shoes handy.
While we can’t all walk together, with your help, our graduates will never walk alone.
