April at Southeastern Guide Dogs brought lots of excitement! As we prepared for National Walkathon Day, local media outlets like FOX 13 Tampa Bay, Suncoast View, and 105.9 Sunny FM helped spread the word of the event. Additionally, Doctors Hospital of Sarasota introduced a new four-legged employee named Buffy. Southeastern Guide Dogs trained Buffy to detect COVID-19, and in her role at the hospital, she screens visitors to make sure they are COVID-free!
To top it off, Forbes interviewed CEO Titus Herman, Dog O Dog featured graduate Katie McCoy for International Guide Dog Day, and Veterans Corner Radio spoke to Service Dog Trainer Lauren Davis to learn about our veteran services. Southeastern Guide Dogs Launches National Walkathon on Saturday

A new talented, four-legged addition now greets people at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. Local media met Buffy, a COVID-19 detection dog, and witnessed how she screens visitors entering the hospital. Watch a clip from ABC Action News here.

Reader’s Digest is holding the America’s Best Pet Pals campaign. Through this campaign, Rachel Weeks and guide dog, Plum, have been featured as finalists. Read the heartwarming story here and wish them “good luck” for a feature in a future issue of the magazine.
