These treats have been tested and approved by Southeastern Guide Dogs’ dogs!

August 2nd is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day! Who knew? It all started in 1899, when an enterprising New York City ice cream vendor decided to press vanilla ice cream between two wafers. Voila – the ice cream sandwich was born!

And what better way to celebrate this scrumptious summer day than by sharing it with your favorite pup? You can make own ice cream sandwich dog treats by checking out these dog-treat recipes and combining them both—cookie on the outside, frozen pumpkin-banana treat on the inside. Yum!

Tell us how you’ll be celebrating National Ice Cream Sandwich Day!

P.S. Please note, these recipes are for dog treats and not intended as meals for your pup. To keep your pup fit and trim, be sure to go for extra walks when extra treats are involved! And while one of our staff veterinarians reviewed these recipes, please check with your veterinarian to be sure of what foods your dog can have.
