Together, we can do anything.
Kudos to Stefanie Marvin-Miller and her loving service dog Leland who recently graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. With Leland’s help, this Army National Guard Veteran overcame every obstacle to reach her goal, including dealing with the invisible wounds of post-traumatic stress disorder. While in college, the dynamic duo served as veteran student senators in student government and joined a sorority, where Stefanie was on the executive council and Leland was the “head of puplick relations.”
At commencement, Stefanie wore a cap with the message: “I hope my dog is proud of me.” Leland’s cap said, “I am!” She also says of her furry superhero, “I never, not for one second, allowed myself to dream of this possibility for myself before I had Leland’s leash in my hands. When I needed help during the long nights of homework and stressful tests, all I had to do was reach out my hand and I found his paw. He’s my best buddy, and there isn’t anyone on this planet that I’d want more by my side to cross that graduation stage. He’s earned it as much as I have.”
